Curriculum - Links to QSA and ACARA

Economics in Queensland is delivered by teachers using the 2010 Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority Economics Syllabus. This can be accessed at http://www.qsa.qld.edu.au/downloads/senior/snr_economics_10_syll.pdf

The QCAA has an education officer who is responsible for the administration of Economics as a subject in Queensland.

Also, there is a small, but growing number of schools who deliver Economics through the International Baccalaureate Program. Details of Economics in the IB Program can be found at: http://www.ibo.org/diploma/curriculum/group3/economics.cfm

Currently, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) is developing Economics and Business within the Australian Curriculum for Years 5-10, with subjects to be developed at a later time for Years 11 and 12. The Shape Paper for Economics and Business can be found at http://www.acara.edu.au/verve/_resources/Shape+of+the+Australian+Curriculum++Economics+and+Business.pdf

The Syllabus is now available on the ACARA Australian Curriculum Website at http://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/humanitiesandsocialsciences/economicsandbusiness/Rationale . This syllabus is still awaiting final endorsement. This will not happen until after the current Australian Government Review has taken place.
